eaux troubles2 low 600x338 Alexandra Levasseur: New exhibition!

We are extremely proud to welcome Alexandra Levasseur’s second solo exhibition.  From June 12th to July 14th, 2013, she will be presenting Playing with Fire, showcasing over twenty new works, each more powerful than the next. This event has been eagerly awaited by collectors and aficionados worldwide and promises to be unforgettable.

The artist has spent many months working on this exhibition. Her fascination with oneiric ambiences is still at the heart of her creations and she now takes us on a journey within the power of desire…

The artist will be at the gallery for the open door event on Saturday, June 15th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to the main exhibition, you are invited to discover the works of artists Isabelle Clermont and José Dupuis.

De fil en coeur 100dpi1 372x600 Isabelle Clermont from June 12th to July 14th 2013

From June 12th to July 14th, 2013, the gallery is making a special place to the works of women artists.  Our discovery space will house the works of Isabelle Clermont. The paintings, taken from her Coeur series, carry us through the complex yet organic interiority of the pulse and movement of fluids that stream and waltz within the human body. Feathers, rose petals, strings: her materials all radiate an arresting sensuality and femininity.

The artist will be at the gallery for the open-door event on Saturday, June 15th.

Welcome to all!

D Jose Dupuis 20132 488x600 José Dupuis from June 12th to July 14th 2013

Also from June 12th to July 14th, 2013, we are delighted to welcome José Dupuis for her third visit at the gallery. She will be presenting Les fils rouges, a reflection on the presence of these red threads within her artistic approach. Creating a metaphorical map of the sky, she has gathered a corpus of works and objects united through this common denominator.  She imagined an inventory of sorts of all of the threads that travel through her everyday life and her works. Searching for meaning, some words rose to the surface: lose the thread, follow the thread, liberty, link, circle, power cord, knot, protect, offer, heart, energy joy, hair, internal movement, invisible, joy, eroticism, suffering, life, death, love.

The artist will be at the gallery for the open-door event on Saturday, June 15th.

José Dupuis is an interdisciplinary artist influenced by the creative process of dance and the practice of Zen meditation. She studied visuals arts, theatre, music and butoh dance with renowned Japanese dancer and choreographer Kazuo Ohno. She holds a M.A. in performing arts and a B.A. in visual arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal, and studied scenic and costume design, as well as visual arts at the Collège Lionel-Groulx.

552952 358369664275401 1772741960 n 600x336 Alexandra Levasseur: a success story here and abroad

The buzz about Alexandra Levasseur on the local as well as the international art scene is growing louder by the minute. A nine-page spread features her works in the 20th edition of Montréal’s Decover magazine, available at the gallery. She was also heralded as “must see” by Zach Tutor, collaborator to Juxtapoz, America’s most widely distributed art magazine.

In September 2012, Alexandra Levasseur started a Bachelor’s degree in Film animation at Concordia University. Her first year ends brilliantly with her first 01:40 short film entitled Playing with fire. Less than a month after its posting on Vimeo, it had been viewed over 38 000 times. It was also named Vimeo “Staff Pick”. Booooooom!, the influential Web platform for emerging artists, praised her work in one of their feature pages.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! We have just learned that Playing with Fire, already nominated in the Best Animation Film category at the 40th edition of the Concordia Film Festival, has been named as one of Concordia’s 15 Best of the Fest, all film lengths and genres!

DSCN3826compress 450x600 Nathalie Trépanier: Bo Corne visits the gallery!

Last year, Nathalie Trépanier was selected to participate in an eco-artistic project with other artists mandated to create works with the copper recovered during the roof works of Château Frontenac.

Nathalie threw herself into the creation of Bo-Corne, an owl standing over seven feet tall. She ingeniously cut the verdigris copper into narrow strips to design the absolutely spectacular plumage of her night bird.

We are very proud to welcome this major work at the gallery until October 1st, 2013. A must-see!
