In September 2012, Alexandra Levasseur started a Bachelor’s degree in Film Animation at Concordia University. Her first year ends brilliantly with the production of her first 01:40 short film. Less than a week after its posting on Vimeo, it had been viewed over 27 000 times. It was also manned a Vimeo Staff Pick. “Booooooom”, the highly influential internet art blog has praised her work on one their feature pages.

Jean-Claude Poitras has been in residence at Galerie ROCCIA for the past few weeks. He has been working feverishly in a creative hub set up in a studio space at the back of the gallery in preparation for his upcoming May 1^st exhibition. The gallery’s team is truly privileged to get sneak peeks of these new works in the making…  One word: colour! The artist’s palette is literally exploding! Jean-Claude Poitras will be present at our open-house event on Saturday and Sunday May 4 and 5^th. Welcome to all!

Artist André Desjardins has just completed three new sculptures. Magnificent, sensual and introspective, these works talk about changes, mutations, transformations… They’ll be on view at the artist’s studio from April 24^th to May 15^th. Friends of the gallery who have had the chance to take a look at Desjardins’ pre-cast clay sculptures have unanimously enjoyed this unique experience. By making an appointment, you also can join the ranks of the lucky viewers in the presence of the artist. Call the gallery to check available time slots. Places are limited, so please hurry!

Last year, Nathalie Trépanier was selected to participate in an eco-artistic project with other artists mandated to create works with the copper recovered during the roof works of Château Frontenac.

Nathalie threw herself into the creation of Bo-Corne, an owl standing over seven feet tall. She ingeniously cut the verdigris copper into narrow strips to design the absolutely spectacular plumage of her night bird.

We are very proud to welcome this major work at the gallery until October 1st, 2013. A must-see!

On June 12^th through July 14^th, the gallery will present artist Alexandra Levasseur’s “Playing with Fire”. In a world premiere, the exhibition will showcase the artist’s exploration of the world of animation as well as twenty or so new works on paper. A must!
